As you are sitting at Einstein’s “doing your homework” do you ever notice that every girl that walks past you is wearing basically the same thing? Lately, all you see are girls wearing a Patagonia fleece, Hunter or L.L. Bean boots, a Long Champ bag and a pair of leggings. This my friends, is what I, and the rest of society, call basic. Now, I’m not saying that there is anything wrong with this look, and I will admit that from time to time I find myself rocking it, but what I am saying is that this outfit is boring!

Now, I know that leaving that basic look behind is never going to happen but I’m here to tell you how to elevate it and make it more unique.  Lets start with the leggings. Everyone lives in plain black leggings—they are practically the “Holy Grail.” Make them more personal to you by getting a pair of pattered ones—tribal or paisley prints are sure to make you stand out. As for the boots, it is hard to step away from your Hunter or L.L. Bean boots because they are practical and comfortable. However, I love dressing my boots up with a pair of long socks. You can wear them thigh-high or scrunch them at the top of the boot. To finish off your look and dress up your fleece or bag, wear a scarf. Tie a scarf around the handles of your bag or around your neck and your look just became one of a kind.

Fashion is one of the finest and most simple ways of expressing yourself and because of that I challenge you, in 2015, to step outside of the box and start the next trend! Be more unique and start dressing for you and only you!

Grace enjoys posing for her fashion Instagram account (@fashionbygk), being a fittie, drinking coffee, watching Netflix, over scheduling herself and watching trashy reality TV. E! News is basically her bible and celebrity gossip is her favorite topic to discuss. Fashion has always been something that Grace has been passionate about and after she started writing for College Fashionista she knew she wanted to pursue fashion blogging more. Being from a town of 4,000, she is the perfect example of a small town girl with big city dreams. Someday Grace hopes to work as a fashion buyer and then eventually open her own boutique.
